garden logoA cooperative project between the Pendleton Library, Falls Park, and resident volunteers of the Pendleton community, the Pendleton Community Garden is located next to the Library, in front of Brown’s Pool.

This year is the seventh consecutive year for the Community Garden, which serves a wonderful purpose – gardening for fun and contributing to the Pendleton “Read ‘n’ Feed project.

Here’s how it works:

Each year, volunteer plot holders commit to tending to a 5′ X 12′ strip of land in the Garden.  On half of that land, volunteer gardeners can grow whatever they like, for themselves, their friends, family, or co-workers.  On the other half, food is grown for the local community.  Plot holders are responsible for tending both sides of their plot, ensuring the garden remains healthy, attractive and free of weeds.

When it’s time to harvest, volunteers pick vegetables which are delivered directly to the local Pendleton community through the library’s Read ‘n’ Feed project.
