Many manufactured homeowners think that there isn’t much that you can do to give your home personality, but the reality is very different.

There is no reason that you can’t personalize your manufactured home, inside and out. Here are some great do-it-yourself ideas that don’t cost a lot to do that you could undertake this fall and winter:

  • Check with Roselake management to make sure you are clear about neighborhood yard regulations. Consider putting in a small flower garden. If it’s along the driveway, walkway or under a front tree, it will be a welcoming spot of color and charm this spring. Turn the soil over now so it will be ready for your flowers come spring.
  • Plant a small flowering bush such as a lilac or forsythia in your sideyard or backyard. Fall is a great time to plant bushes and trees. Be sure to mulch and water your new planting before the ground freezes.
  • Update the look of your exterior with coat of exterior trim paint. Painting just the trim is easy to do, doesn’t take a lot of paint, and it can go a long way to keep your home looking fresh. Too cold to paint the exterior trim? Paint the interior trim to give your doorways and floors an update.
  • Replace kitchen cabinet handles and drawer pulls. Changing out tired white or silver pulls to rubbed bronze or sleek black can change the entire look of your cabinets.
  • Re-wallpaper your kitchen, or just the backsplash. Choose a pattern you won’t soon tire of that pulls in some of the colors already in your kitchen. Teals, greens and grays are big this year.
  • Consider replacing carpet with laminate wood flooring. It’s easy to install, and will provide an instant update. Bonus – most laminates are allergen free and very easy to keep clean.
  • Replace kitchen, dining room or front porch lights. Go contemporary. Bonus – most new lighting is also more energy efficient!

Remember that making small changes like these to your Roselake Estates home will keep our neighborhood looking nice, and help keep your home’s resale value higher. Plus – fall and winter are the perfect time to make the most of inside time with a project or two!
