Manufactured homes are very affordable and easy to update, especially if you are a do-it-yourselfer.

Thanks to great resources like Pinterest and HGTV, there are quite literally hundreds of inexpensive decorating ideas perfect for manufactured home owners like you!

Here are a few DIY ideas we liked, outside:

  • Brighten up the front of your home without painting by adding planter boxes under front windows
  • Add shutters around windows and paint them the same contrasting color as your front door
  • Porch railings look welcoming with silk or real flowers on railing-hung wire baskets
  • Wireless solar lights placed so they highlight your front tree at night looks lovely

Inside your manufactured home, try:

  • Replacing dated carpet with wood or laminate floors. Many laminate floors interlock and are relatively easy to install yourself
  • Increase ambient light by adding recessed lighting with dimmer switches in the kitchen, dining room and master bedroom.
  • Update ugly vinyl walls or dark paneling with special paint available just for this purpose. One or two coats of light gray, off white or taupe will brighten your kitchen or bath.
  • Replace old curtains with Roman shades or wooden blinds.
  • Add rugs on floors to soften or pull together the look of any room – yes, even over carpeting.
  • Add wainscoting to your dining room
  • Add wider baseboards and crown molding to ceilings.

Selecting a couple of these DIY projects can add drama, charm or a fresh new look to your RoseLake Estates home without spending a bundle!
