McCordsvilleReady for a short summer road trip? McCordsville is about 15 minutes southeast of RoseLake Estates in Pendleton.

Located in the northwest corner of Hancock County just south of Geist Reservoir, McCordsville borders the city of Lawrence in Marion County and the town of Fishers in Hamilton County. It’s just off State Road 67, less than 10 minutes from I-69, I-465 and SR 234.

Incorporated in 1988, McCordsville’s roots date back to 1865, when it was laid out and platted, named for members of the McCord family. It remained a sleepy little community for years, but as Fishers has boomed, so has McCordsville.

A recent report in the Indianapolis Business Journal reports McCordsville as the second fastest growing community in the state, ranking just behind Whitestown and in front of Brownsburg. With a population nearing 7,000 people, McCordsville is now the second largest municipality solely in Hancock County.

It’s a busy time in McCordsville with a spacious new Hancock Wellness Center opening early this year, a Meijer beginning construction and Brookside Senior Living facility opening this summer. There’s even a new winery planned; Daniel’s Winery will open this month. Right now, dozens of new shops, antique stores, a nursery, brewery, and restaurants are popping up along downtown McCordsville’s streets, all inviting browsing and sampling.

There’s plenty to explore in and around McCordsville – just a stone’s throw away from RoseLake Estates in Pendleton this summer. Enjoy!
